Our Two-Acre Testing Complex
Garwood Laboratories was founded in November 1954 by Jack and Chuck Garwood. It started with temperature testing products in their family garage. The two brothers soon formally opened shop in Montebello, CA and expanded to five employees as Garwood entered into environmental testing, and also precision cleaning of missile and aircraft components for the military and aerospace.
In the early 1980's, Chuck hired Jim Armstrong as his laboratory manager as Garwood continued to grow with Southern California's aerospace and military industry. In 1984, Armstrong purchased the lab from the Garwood family, and has since helped make Garwood a prominent name in the testing industry. This has been achieved by continuing the commitment to providing timely and quality testing/engineering services at a competitive price.
In 1994, Armstrong moved the company into its present two-acre facility in Pico Rivera. This spacious facility opened the door for additional services which included testing for the commercial industry. This also allowed the space for future growth to meet the needs of our customers.
Since that time, the company has continued to grow with the number of employees approaching 50 strong. Garwood's services have also expanded with the testing needs of our customers. The addition of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), hydraulics/pneumatics, package testing, product safety, world compliance testing, space simulation, product reliability (ESS/AA), NEBS/BELLCORE/TELCORDIA telecommunications, and fiber optics testing services prove our continued commitment to being a one stop laboratory for all of your testing needs.
