About FCC testing

Radio frequency emissions in the United States inspected under the Standards as described in the code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

The most common Standard is FCC Part 15B, Class A - commercial, industrial use or FCC Part 15B, Class B - home or office use.

Items intended for use over telephone lines are covered under FCC Part 68.

Enforcement of the FCC rules (and the E.U. Rules) is through audits in the commercial sector and complaints of emission interference. Penalties can include product re-call and significant monetary penalties.

Glossary
Un-Intentional Radiator -A device that intentionally generates radio frequency energy for use within the device, or to send radio frequency signals by conduction to associated equipment via connecting wire, but which is not intended to emit RF energy by radiation or induction.
Shipping to the European Union (E.U.)
As of January 1996, I.T.E. product being shipped into the European Union (E.U.) were required to meet emissions and immunity requirements of the EMC Directive, (89-336-EEC). By January 1997, Product Safety was also required by the Low Voltage Directive, (73-23-EEC). Now EN61000-3 Series for Harmonics and Power Factor.
